Power Supply:
If you find yourself in a situation where you have a burst pipe, flooding or a leaking cistern, the first thing you need to do is quickly turn off your electricity supply at the main fuse box, once you have repaired the leak and dried the area of liquid, check your sockets, switches, ceiling lights and any electrical equipment around the affected area to make sure they are dry, if you find water has got into any with electrics, don’t turn on power until they have all dried out.
Water Supply:
Knowing where your valves are is very important – source your main stop valve, this lets you turn off the main water supply in an emergency or to carry out any essential work. FloRise would advise that you check your valves regularly to ensure they open and close (quarterly). If you find the valve is tight think about using a penetrating oil to keep it loose (a few drops should do). Don’t leave the valve fully open as it may seize up, we recommend closing by a quarter to half turn.
