How turning up your thermostat raises your gas bill

How to stop water coming through your ceiling.

Your water cistern and tank is usually found in the loft or the upper floor of your house, the result of this is you will usually know about a leak when it is coming through the ceiling, acting quickly to stop this and reduce the damage cause by a ceiling collapsing is a priority.

You will need to take these immediate steps:

Step 1:

First you should turn off the electricity at the main power switch, and then turn off your water at main stop valve. Put some buckets or containers below where the water is leaking and then turn off all of your taps and flush the toilets as this will empty your pipes and cold water storage, preventing them from refilling while the main stop valve is off.

Step 2:

Now step 1 is complete you can investigate the leak, this could be a burst pipe, a joint could be loose or the actual cistern is leaking or overflowing. Check to see if the leak is coming from the hot water and address this issue by turning off your boiler, then look to make repairs or replace faulty items.
